Karra Georgette SmithAge 55 of Durand, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at her home.Funeral services will be held 4 pm Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Walden officiating. The family will receive family and friends on Sunday from 12 noon to time of service.Karra was born November 25, 1965 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Earl and Edna (Wilson) Williams.She was a homemaker and spent her life raising and caring for her family. Karra loved time with her family and if she wasn’t with her girls and grandbabies she could be found playing bingo. She also loved to fish and sing karaoke at Autumns Lounge. After she was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis 13 years ago it was almost like she felt she had a death sentence and was defeated. But over time as she continued to educate herself about the disease and change her lifestyle she became a warrior in her disease and it did not define her. She overcame the defeat and took on a new career as a driver for MTA. She took control of her life and lived her life everyday to the fullest.Karra is survived by her daughters Tasha Smith, Sabrina Cromwell, Mystical Cromwell and Michelle Stroub; 7 grandbabies; 9 brothers and sisters; many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.She was predeceased by her parents Earl and Edna and her adopted parents George and Leola Smith.Memorial contributions are suggested to the family.
