Karl R. Parsons, Jr., age 95 of Fairmount, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015 at his residence.

Karl was born on July 12, 1919 in Frankfort to the late Karl R. and Theodosia (Clark) Parsons. He was a graduate of Anderson High School. During World War II, he served as a gunners mate third class in the U.S. Navy. He was married to Faith Arnold Hackney, she preceded him in death on May 5, 1990. For most of his career,

Karl was a model maker at Delco Remy in Anderson, where he retired from in 1982 with forty-three years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed many activities and memberships. He was a member of the Fairmount and Anderson American Legion Posts; Former Fairmount VFW, where he was a commander; the Fairmount Masonic Lodge, joining in 1946; the Murat Shrine Club of Madison County; the Scottish Rite Club of Madison County, receiving the thirty-second degree; the Fairmount Lions Club, past president; the National Rifle Association; Central Christian Church of Anderson; and the Mississinewa Valley Corvette Club. These memberships partially reflected his many passions, from Corvettes and western movies, to golf and bowling.

Karl is survived by three sons, Errol, of Fairmount, Gary (Carol), of San Diego, Calif., and Bob (Bonnie), of Anderson; very special friends Mike (Becky) Marsh and Jerry (Peg) Soultz; two grandsons, Brent (Tina) and Eric (Dawn); seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Karl was preceded in death by one brother; five sisters; daughter-in-law Nancy Parsons; and friend Viola van Gordon Purtee.
