Karl Herman Seyfang, 77, of Bethel, CT, died on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at his home after several years of declining health.

He was the beloved husband of Diane E.(Brosz) Seyfang for 52 years and the father of Lynne E. Seyfang currently residing in Boise, Idaho.

Karl was born on July 5, 1945, in Bethel, CT, He attended Bethel elementary schools followed by Henry Abbott Technical School where he graduated in 1963 majoring in auto mechanics,

He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ in the base logistics platoon. After an honorable discharge in 1968, he received employment at the Newtown School System as a lead custodian. His next employment was with the Bethel Board of Education for 22 years as a staff custodian. He formally retired in 2009 and spent his remaining years maintaining the family home in Bethel, CT.

Karl married Diane E. Brosz on April 11, 1970, and was a faithful husband for 52 years. Their daughter Lynne E. Seyfang operated Lynne’s Luncheonette at the Danbury Superior Court House for many years. Her employment was instrumental for the State of Connecticut as it confirmed legally blind people could participate and interact with the general public.

Karl’s retirement years were spent mostly in Bethel. His love of Bethel often inspired memories of the community when he was young. Often, he spoke of Doughboy Square, the old railroad station, and the Sycamore restaurant with its Friday night cruise-ins.

He loved watching New York Yankee baseball where he and his wife faithfully followed their schedule both home and away.
