SCHLUKEBIR-PENNOCK, Karie S., of Kalamazoo. Passed away January 16, 2010, at Rose Arbor Hospice Care. She was born March 27, 1980, in Kalamazoo, to John and Kathleen Dombos Schlukebir, who survive. Karie was united in marriage on July 4, 2009, to Joseph L. Pennock, who survives.

Also surviving Karie are her sisters, Katie Harold Schock of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Kristen Schlukebir of Kalamazoo; niece, Karlie Schock and, nephew, Drew Schock. Karie graduated from Mattawan High School in 1998 where she was a state tennis champion her sophomore year. She is also a member of Mattawan’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Karie attended Indiana University where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Marketing and a Masters Degree in Sports Marketing from the Kelley School of Business.

At IU she was a member of the Women’s Tennis Team where she was twice team captain and was a member of the 2004 Big Ten Championship Team. She was last employed by Florida International University as the Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach.
