Karen E. Kaufmann Karen Elaine Kaufmann, 52, died Friday, November 11, 2016, at her Manassas home. Born in Duarte, California to the late Bertram J. Kaufmann Jr. and Dorothy Jenkins Kaufmann, where she participated in sports and marching band. She received her Bachelor of Science from Kutztown University, followed by her Masters of Science from Catholic University of America, both in the field of Library Science. She was a Reference Librarian for the Executive Office of the President Library, for the last 28 years. Karen enjoyed swimming (she was a member of the Virginia Master’s Swim Club and founder of the Kutztown University Women’s Swim Team), baseball, the Olympic Games, trips to the beach (particularly Ocracoke), Flash her dog, travel, watching horse racing, musical theater, Christmas baking, and cherished time with her family (especially at her nieces and nephews sporting events). Among her survivors are her sister, Jeanne Hericks and her husband, David, and her nieces and nephews, Kylie, Austin, Tyler and Shawna.
