K. Stanley Buck , 94

West Sand Lake K. Stanley Buck , 94, formerly of Old South Road, passed away of natural causes Friday, March 11, 2005 at home.

Born on January 14, 1911 in Pittsfield, MA, he was the son of the late Jonathan Heath Buck and Alice (Brown) Buck and husband of the late Ruth Virginia (Sweeney) Buck, Mary (Whitmore) Buck and Ethel (Hankle) Sowaskie Buck.

He had resided, until 1939, in Massachusetts then Leonia, NJ and since 1943 in West Sand Lake and was a graduate of Framingham Academy and High School in Framingham, MA and Franklin Union Technical Institute in Boston.

Mr. Buck was a insurance engineer for Employers Liability Assurance Corp., later called Commercial Union Insurance in Albany for 42 years, retiring 30 years ago. He remained stateside with the company during WWII, inspecting various industrial plants, including National Lead and U S Steel. Many years ago, he taught diesel mechanics in Massachusetts.

He was an active member and historian of the Salem United Methodist Church in West Sand Lake and involved in all capacities and remained a member of the West Sand Lake Volunteer Fire Company. As a member of the West Sand Lake Grange he held positions of Chaplain, Assistant Steward, Overseer and Master. Traveling extensively for work, he cherished his time at home helping family and friends in his workshop, and gardening.

He is survived by four children of his first wife, Irwin D. Buck, Shirley A. Williams, Dennis W. Buck, and Dawn C. Castaldi; his grandchildren, Constance J. Hilts, Mark A. Williams, Christopher J. Castaldi and Stephen M. Castaldi; a great granddaughter, Kristin E. Hilts; his sister, Alice Loveland McNally; a nephew, George Loveland; two nieces, Roberta Vest, and Nancy Mitchell and many grand nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Dorothy P. Buck and her son, Jeffrey Buck. He was predeceased by a brother, David H. Buck.
