Justine (Teeny) Compo (November 1929 to March 2022) was born in Rochester, NY and passed peacefully at home in Highlands Ranch, CO. Her parents were James and Gertrude (McCluskey) McGrath.

Justine met Leon Compo on a blind date arranged by dear friends in 1948. They married in 1949, moved to Buffalo, NY, and had three children: Linda, Barbara, and Daniel.

In 1959, the family moved to Colorado, where Leon began a new career with the Martin Company. Four other families from Buffalo, including the couple that set up that life-changing blind date, made the same move along with the Compos. They remained lifelong friends and substitute relatives, all being so far from home.

Justine worked as a cook in various schools, was active with the Girl Scouts, earned an Associate degree from Arapahoe Community College and volunteered at St.

After Leon died in 2008, Justine moved to Wind Crest in Highlands Ranch. There, she made many new friends. She continued to enjoy swimming, fitness classes, hiking, cross country skiing, and dining with friends.

During the final two years of her life, her care providers at Wind Crest showered her with kindness and friendship.

Justine was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her siblings Mary Stoffel, Kay Schepp, Roberta Best, Joan Proud, and Jim McGrath. She is survived by her children, Linda Racette, Barbara (Rod) Lockhart, Dan (Martha Hoffman) Compo, grandchildren Leigh (Zach) Racette Townsend, Adam, Noah and Rachel Compo, and her great grandson Colin Townsend. Justine will also be missed by the extended Lockhart family: Glenda (Kerry Mann) Lockhart, Damon (Charity) Lockhart, and Trish (Phil) Gandy, including grandchildren Lily, Gauge, Ripp, Mack, and Brock Lockhart, and Austin Gandy.

Justine’s positive attitude, cheerfulness, faith, and commitment to kindness is an inspiration to those who loved her.
