Montgomery, Alabama- June Wolford Oister, 88, of Montgomery, Alabama, formerly of Salem, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012 at her home. She was born January 22, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Calvin and Ruth (Plauck) Wolford. She graduated from Salem High School in 1942 and served as a Red Cross volunteer during WWII. She worked at Wolford’s Photo Studio during the war as a photographer and color portrait artist, later attending Kent State University and Bob Jones University. She worked as a comptroller operator for 20 years in Chicago where she married Ernest Foster, Jr. For the past 35 years, she has lived in Montgomery, Alabama where she helped manage a nursing home business with her husband. They were honored as WWII veterans by being selected on the first “Honor Flight” to the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. from Alabama. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Foster, Jr. and by her second husband, Clarence Oister, Sr. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Alice Foster; two grandsons, Francisco Rodriguez, Jr. and Christopher Rodriguez; and two great-grandsons, Vincente and Ronan Rodriguez. A brother, Jerry Wolford and three nephews, Eric, Kevin and Darren Wolford also survive her.
