June Kyed passed away peacefully on the morning of December 28, 2017 after bravely facing cancer the previous five months. She is survived by her three sons, Stan Jr. (and his wife, Holly), Ernest (and his wife, LaVerne), and Paul as well as her three adult grandchildren, John (and his wife, Polly), Aimee, and Andrew. Her vigorous independent spirit and zest for fun will be missed. June was born on January 7, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to parents, Ernest and Theresa. She had an older brother, Earl (who predeceased her in 1986), and a younger sister, Marie. As a young girl, June traveled Route 66 with her family to begin a new life in Los Angeles, California. She graduated from Compton High School in Compton, California and met her future husband, Stanley Kyed, at a big band dance hosted by Les Brown and His Band of Renown.
