June Hattie “Binda” (Houseknecht) Flook, a long-time resident of Newberry, passed into the arms of her Savior Jesus on March 10, 2020.
Born Aug. 1, 1931 at her grandmother’s farm in Milton R.D. #2, in an area known as Paradise.
She grew up in Muncy and was a graduate of the Muncy Area High School Class of 1949. She met her future husband, the love of her life Donald Eugene “Donnie,” at a church function, and they were married on June 11, 1949. They shared 62 years of marriage until his passing on Oct. 11, 2011.
She is survived by her three children, Donna June Whitteker of Newberry, Virginia Elizabeth Hill (Michael) of San Francisco, and Donald Vincent Flook (Sandy) of Newberry; one grandson, Joseph Michael Phillip Whitteker (Tammi) of Muncy; two great-grandchildren, Cody Charles Joseph Whitteker (Morgan) of Muncy, and Joseph Donald Vincent Whitteker of Muncy; and her loving small dog, Murphy.
June’s nickname was “Junebug” until the birth of her grandson, Joey, who then gave her the name of “Binda.” Binda’s new home is now in Heaven and she can be reached only by prayer.
June was preceded in death by her parents, Uriah Struble Houseknecht, and Margaret Elizabeth (Kreppenneck) Houseknecht Burkholder, stepfather, Carl Burkholder, and her husband, Donald Eugene Flook.
She worked at Tiny’s Restaurant, Hurr’s, Rayovac, Grit, Town & Country, and Falls Hall Roller Rink. She was a member of Jackson Elementary PTA, and organized the sixth-grade parties at Jackson Elementary. She was a youth Girl Scout along with later becoming a Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout den mother.
June’s closest relationship in life was her Lord Jesus Christ and in a photo finish for second place was her loving family including her pets.
The family suggests contributions be made in June’s name to St. Paul-Calvary United Methodist Church, 1427 Memorial Ave., Williamsport, PA 17701, or to Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701, or a charity of donor’s choice.
This obituary was written by her family who will continue to communicate with her by prayer to heaven.
We miss you Binda, with love-Your Family.
