June Elizabeth Duke Hinds died on January 21, 2014 after a 10 month courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She had just celebrated her 86th birthday on December 10, 2013, and her beloved grandson’s wedding on December 14th. She joyfully reached her goal of dancing at his wedding.
She was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother, who worked hard all of her life until last year. For the last 20 years of her life she worked in her daughter’s office as manager.
She was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi and graduated high school in Memphis, Tennessee. Her parents were Mary Elizabeth and Leonard Emmett Duke, and her only sister was Margaret Little.
She was married 45 years to Charles Edward Hinds until his death in 1990. She ran the office of his radio and TV repair business after the family moved to Destin in 1958.
She is survived by her only daughter, Dr. Carla J. Hinds, and by her only grandson, Andrew E. Hinds, as well as by his new dear wife Ann. Also by cousins and nieces and nephews in Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, and Texas. She is greatly missed.
