Julius Smulkstys, 79, of Lakeside, Michigan died Monday afternoon, April 12, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, Michigan. Julius was born May 27, 1930 in Kaunas, Lithuania to Liudvikas and Julja (Sumnauskas) Smulkstys. He moved to the United States in 1949 and married Isabel Juodakis. He was a Professor of Political Science at Indiana University Fort Wayne and later served as the Dean of Arts and Sciences.
Survivors include his wife, Isabel; daughter, Inga Smulkstys and her husband Christopher Klose of Washington, DC; son, Linas Smulkstys and his wife, Katie Smulkstys of Chicago; grandchildren, Noah and Lina Klose and his brother, Liudas Smulkstys of Lemont, Illinois.
