Julius “Bud” Aldrich, 100 years and seven days old, passed away peacefully in Safety Harbor, FL on Friday, September 18, 2020, with his loving companion, Dinah Sanford at his bedside.
Bud was born and raised in the original house his great-great-great grandfather built in 1788 in Farmington, NY, He was the only son of Clarence G. and Bertha (Nichols) Aldrich. He was a direct descendant of three of the original settlers of Farmington, Nathan Aldrich, Nathan Comstock and Nathan Herendeen. Bud’s grandfather, Julius F. Aldrich was the town assessor and his great-grandfather, Nathan Lapham Aldrich was a longtime town justice.
Bud and Clara E. (Page) wed in 1941 and married until she died in 2002. They raised a daughter and a dozen foster children in the 1950’s. Five years after Clara’s death he found love again at age 86 and was with Dinah for thirteen years.
Bud lived in many places in Ontario, Wayne and Monroe counties before moving from Penfield NY to Clearwater FL., in 1984. Bud had various jobs; he was a feed mill truck driver, farm hand, frozen custard stand attendant at Roseland for Mr. Muar, turkey farmer and Manchester Highway Department crew. He retired at age 60 after 30 years with American Can Co., in Rochester and Fairport as a fork lift driver.
He is survived by his daughter, Joanne (Edward) Clark of Lehigh Acres, FL; granddaughters Juliet (Wayne) Lucas of Penfield and Charmaine (Robert) Heffner of Bloomfield; six adult great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; first cousin, Nathan Aldrich of Farmington; many nieces and nephews; life companion, Dinah Sanford.
He is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Clara; sisters Lillian Ayrault Dillenbeck and Lila Bristol; foster son, Bruce D. Bailey.
