Juliamyrtle Frederick was born on November 20, 1931, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to her parents, Reese Tucker and Detty Lowe. She was the second of three children born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brother, Wayne and her sister, Diana. She received her formal education in Muskogee where she graduated from high school. She furthered her education by attending college. “Julia” as she was affectionately called, united in holy matrimony to Alvin T. Powell. To this union, two sons, Alvin Jr. and Duane were born. This marriage was later dissolved. She was also the proud mother of a daughter, she named Darlene, and her third son, Kenneth. She later wed, William J. Fredrick, whom everyone called “Freddie.” She was later blessed with ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She truly enjoyed the care and nurture of her family. They all shared many happy and precious moments together. By profession, Julia was employed by Exempla St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado working in the Material Management Department. She is remembered as being hard working, conscientious and performed her duties with a spirit of excellence.
