Derby – Mrs. Julia (Hill) Zybort, age 96, of Derby, died Friday April 24, 2015 at the VITAS Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. She was the widow of John Joseph Zybort, Sr. Mrs. Zybort was born July 18, 1918 in Ansonia a daughter of the late Nicholas and Anna (Vos) Hill of Orange. She was formerly employed at Remington Arms Company of Bridgeport, worked at the family restaurant, Charles Restaurant in Ansonia, and later at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, and Latex Foam Products of Derby. She loved cooking and baking and is remembered for her specialties like her Zucchini pancakes, cole slaw and “poor mans pierogi” which she used to make for family picnics. She also enjoyed knitting and provided the family with many heirloom quality afghans.
Mrs. Zybort is survived her only son: John Joseph Zybort, Jr. and his wife Maribeth of Oxford, 4 grandchildren: Jennifer Cote of Charlton Mass, Amy Davey of Southbury, Heather Zybort of Naugatuck and Joshua Zybort of Derby, 4 great grandchildren: Nathaniel and Lily Ortiz, Jacob Cote and Theodore Zybort, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister: Mary Palaska and two brothers: John Hyll and Stephen Hill.
