Judy L. Anderson, 70, of Galva Illinois passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, in Viola, Illinois, with her daughter Heidi by her side. Judy’s strength and endurance throughout her battle with cancer truly amazed her family, friends and even her doctors and nurses. Her strength was fueled by the great love of her family.

Judy was born on March 11, 1952, the daughter of Howard Lee and Rose (Holmes) Craig, in Kewanee, Illinois. She is survived by 3 sisters; her twin sister – Trudy, her sister Tina, and her youngest sister Patty.

Judy graduated from Galva High School and married Larry G. Anderson of Altona Illinois in April of 1972, and together they had two daughters, Heidi and Jennifer. The couple later divorced.

Judy worked hard during her life in order to provide for her daughters; which included working as a certified nurse’s aide, the Kewanee Leather Factory, and Dixline Corporation in Galva. In her younger years, Judy enjoyed crocheting and cross-stich, ceramics, fishing, karaoke, and going on lunch outings and shopping with her loved ones. Her family was her driving force in life, and she always looked forward to all family holidays and get together.

Judy and her sisters shared the planning and hosting of an individual annual holiday event, with Judy’s annual holiday celebration being the 4th of July. Her yearly freedom celebration was a family favorite, and consisted of lots of food and drink, talent shows, horseshoes the parade and fireworks at the Galva Park District.

Judy was famous in her family for her delicious zucchini bread, and brownies; both of which no one can quite replicate.

Judy was very blessed to know how many people truly cared for and loved her with all of the gifts, cards, letters, messages, food, and flowers she received on almost a daily basis during her illness. The love from her friends and family kept her spirits up and helped her stay hopeful even on her hardest days.

She was able to celebrate her milestone 70th birthday with her twin sister and loving family. Those left to cherish her memory include; daughters, Heidi (Jeff Cook) Martin of Viola, IL, and Jennifer (Shawn) Rohrig of Galva, IL; three grandchildren, Kylie Martin of Peoria, IL, Tyler (Maia Leach) Henry of Layfette, IN, and Wyatt Rohrig of Galva, IL. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, as she was theirs. Also left to cherish her memory are; her twin sister Trudy (Steve Knasko) Kircher of Dubuque, IA/Galena, IL, her sister Tina (Bill) Hutchinson of Galva, IL, and sister Patty (Larry) Collinson also of Galva; along with nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and a great-nephew who were all very dear to her heart.

Judy is also survived by several family canine companions, whom she loved very much.Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Lee and Rose Craig, and her nephew, Frank Sellers.

The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice Compassus for providing such wonderful care in our time of need, and also to Western Illinois Home Healthcare, for their care and compassion, not only from a patient standpoint, but also for their compassion, patience and understanding for their employee, Judy’s daughter Heidi, as she took time off to care for her mother. Also, a special thanks to Kathryn Sharer of Aledo Illinois, Judy’s caregiver and daytime angel.
