Judy Diane Olsen Nielson Barker

Our beloved Mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, valiantly completed her earthly mission, surrounded by her adoring children, in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 5th, 2016, from the devastating effects of brain cancer. Born to Helen Child and Harold Hugo Olsen on May 22, 1942, Judy enjoyed a happy and blessed childhood, residing in Peterson, Utah, attending schools in Morgan.

Judy had countless cherished memories of growing up in the beautiful Morgan valley where she so loved her childhood friends, holding dear her relationships with them until her final days.

She was gifted with a talent and love of music, delighting in playing the accordion, piano, and French horn.

While working at a small cafAC. in Morgan, during the summer after graduation, she met her eternal companion, Kent Eugene Nielson, and after a short courtship, they were married in the Manti LDS Temple on December 15, 1960. Kent passed away much too soon on August 30, 1963.

Judy began working at HAFB which was where she then met Ray C. Barker, marrying him on August 8, 1966. This union was blessed with 7 children who never failed to love and honor their mother: Robin Hoggan, Max (Cindy) Barker, Heidi (Rod) Pearce, Kimberly (Matt) Christensen, Jason Barker (deceased), Jennifer Barker (deceased), and Karen (Dirk) Bishop. Ray and Judy divorced after many years, however, remained friends as they relished together in the lives and accomplishments of their children and grandchildren.

Judy will be profoundly missed by her 25 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, all who brought her a tremendous amount of joy. Her favorite moments were spent with her family or reading endless amounts of uplifting books.

Also surviving are her kind and caring siblings, Gordon (Betty) Olsen, JoRae (Rulon) Mitchell, Farrell (Hyla) Olsen, and Kim (Karen) Olsen.

Judy was an obedient and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints always serving steadfastly in many callings. She had an undeniable testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ, His Atonement, and loved the Lord immensely. She experienced the peace and tremendous blessings that are only gained from living the gospel of Jesus Christ, never failing to instill this desire within her children and grandchildren, for her greatest desire was to be surrounded for eternity with each and everyone of her beloved children, grandchildren, and loved ones.

Preceded in death by her husband, Kent, son, Jason, daughter, Jennifer, son-in-law, Scott Hoggan, and her parents.
