Judith Ellen Forsberg Griggs of Haymarket, VA died Friday, January 22, 2016 at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, VA. She is survived by her husband of fifty years John L. Griggs, daughter Amanda Griggs Gilhuly (Robert) , son David Griggs, six grandchildren Ashley, James, Gabriella, Carl, Dustin, and Nicholas, a twin brother Alan, two sisters Hilma and Mary and numerous nieces and nephews. Judy was a 1965 graduate of Arnot Ogden School of Nursing in Elmira, NY. Her forty year career as a nurse included public health nursing, hospital nursing and nineteen years as a pediatric nurse at quot;The Childrens Medical Associates of N.Va. She and John spent two years from 1966 to 1968 serving in the Peace Corps at a Poultry and Nutrition program in India. In 2002 Judy retired after being diagnosed with breast cancer. She successfully fought the disease and was cancer-free until her death. After living in Alexandria for 38 years, Judy and John moved to the Regency at Dominion Valley in Haymarket, VA. in 2007. Judy blossomed in her new community throwing herself into activities ranging from golf, Garden Club, Womens Club, mah jongg, LLI, found her gift in writing, acting in the Regency Players and many more. Shortly after moving to Regency, she and another cancer survivor started a support group for residents with cancer and their families. The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Virginia Hospital Center for their skilled and compassionate care to Judy during her hospitalization.
