Obituary of Jr. Pipes

Henry, a life long resident of Morehouse Parish, died Monday, May 16, 2005. He was born March 15, 1931 in Winnsboro, LA to Henry and Zelma Pipes. He graduated from Oak Ridge High school and Auburn University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. Henry was actively involved in farming in Morehouse and Richland Parishes. Among many other awards he was named Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year and Outstanding Conservationist of the Year. He was a founding member and current President of the Oak Ridge Agricultural Corporation, a former director of the Bank of Oak Ridge, past President of Production Credit Association, founder and past President of Riverfield Academy and a founding member of the Louisiana Cotton Producers Association.

Henry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jo Ann Bottcher Pipes; his children, Melba Pipes Barham and her husband Robert, H.A. “Buddy” Pipes, III and his wife Anita, all of Oak Ridge, LA; Zoe Pipes Meeks and her husband Ken of Shreveport, LA and John Bradley Pipes and his wife Mary of Baton Rouge, LA; nine grandchildren, Robert Earl “Bo” Meeks, Robert Erle Barham, Pat Meeks Roberts, Rebecca Dale Barham, Henry Pipes Barham, Alexander Pipes, Henry “Hank” Alexander Pipes IV, John Bradley, Pipes, Jr. and Caleb Pipes; two great grandchildren, Avery Alexander Meeks and Emerson Zoe Roberts; brother, Caleb Windsor Pipes and his wife Jane of Birmingham, Alabama and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Mer Rouge A.A. or the Alzheimer’s Association.
