Joyzelle Eleanor “Joy” Holleman Sterling, 90, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away February 25, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Joy was born February 13, 1926, in Orange, Texas, to Arthur Charles Holleman and Ella Radcliff Holleman. She grew up and attended schools in Orange and graduated from Orange High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree as a Registered Nurse from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.
In 1945, she was honored to be named Miss Port Arthur, Miss Orange, and Miss Beaumont, Texas.
On November 29, 1946, she married Ray Eli Sterling in Port Arthur, Texas. To this union were born two children, Joyzelle and Ray, Jr.
Joy and Ray were lucky enough to live all over the world: Italy, The Netherlands, Japan, Colombia, and in the southern United States, to name a few. Joy worked as a nurse, but was always happiest to be a wife and mother.
