Joyce Elaine Verjinsky, 81, Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on April 16, 2013 at Alpine Terrace Assisted Living Home in Wisconsin Rapids.
Joyce was born on March 4, 1932 in Wausau, Wisconsin, the daughter of Fred and Mathilda Heidemann. She attended grade school at Zion Lutheran School, Wausau and Wausau High School.
Joyce worked part time at WSAU Radio Station while in school. After graduating from High School she worked at Employers Insurance Company, Wausau. On April 19, 1952 she married Sergeant Vernon Verjinsky. In July, 1953 she moved to Fairbanks, Alaska where her husband was stationed at Ladd AFB. While in Alaska she worked as an accountant at the NCO Club. In August, 1955 she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska with her husband where she worked again as an accountant at Lincoln AFB NCO Club. In June, 1959 she moved to Wisconsin Rapids where she and her husband took up residence. She worked while in Wisconsin Rapids at Pranges Department Store and at Metcalf Lumber in the accounting department until she retired.
Joyce was a member of St. Paul?s Evangelical Lutheran Church and Willing Workers of the congregation. She enjoyed fishing, vacationing at the cottage, traveling, and playing various card games with family and friends.
Joyce is survived by her husband: Vernon; sons: Alan Verjinsky, Vesper, Wisconsin; and Keith (Connie) Verjinsky, Wisconsin Rapids; grandchildren: Katie and Kyle Verjinsky of Wisconsin Rapids; sister-in-laws: Clair ?Pat? Heidemann, Wisconsin Rapids; and Addie James, Mesa, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers: Clifford, Eugene, and Donald and sister-in-law, Dorothy Heidemann.
