Joyce (Sober) Simon, 82, of Moodus, wife of the late Max Simon, passed away on Monday, April 5th at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. Born in Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Fannie (Strauss) Sober. Joyce was a long time member of Rodfe Zedek in Moodus which is now part of Congregation Beth Shalom Rodfe Zedek and was also a member of the Sisterhood. She lived in Moodus since the 1940’s and served as the Democratic Registrar of Voters for the Town of East Haddam for many years. Joyce was a partner in the Joymax Poultry Company and a founder of Down on the Farm Craft Center, both in Moodus. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Simon and his wife, Rochelle of Moodus and Andrew Simon of Provincetown, MA; a sister, Sylvia Sober of NY and CT; and a grandchild, Rachel Simon of Moodus. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Paul D. Simon.
