Joyce (Gwendolyn) Bauman passed away on July 23, 2014, one day after her 85th birthday at a local memory care facility with her loving husband of 66 years by her side. She was born July 22, 1929, to Margaret and Harold Oleson. Joyce was raised in the Sun River area and graduated from Simms High School in 1947.

On February 1, 1948, Joyce and Dale Bauman were married. They spent their entire married life in the farming community of Power. Together they raised three children. Connie (Jim) Alderson of La Quinta, CA; Dean Bauman of Power and Brad (Suzanne) Bauman of Fairfield.

Being a devoted farmer’s wife and mother was her number one priority. Joyce was a life-long member of the United Church of Christ serving as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent; deaconess and president of the Ladies’ Aid. She was a past member of the Ladies Home Demonstration Club and supported the local Senior Citizens Center. Always a strong supporter of her children’s activities she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Little League Team Mother, and a chaperone at numerous outings and events. In earlier years she enjoyed her ladies bowling group in Chouteau and the couples’ league in Fairfield. Joyce loved cards—especially pinochle—and the time spent playing whist with her Birthday Club friends. Joyce was an avid Power Pirates fan and found great joy in her flower gardens. She enjoyed handicraft projects and volunteered to assist with a variety of community activities ranging from wedding and baby showers to the Centennial celebrations. Joyce and Dale had many memorable travels and camping trips with their special friends and family.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents; sister, Lucille Christensen; and brothers, Bill and Dick Oleson. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: Jennifer (Buck) Page, Max and Els of San Clemente, CA; Justin (Kristen) Alderson, Zachary and Makenzie of San Clemente, CA; Dan (Laura) Bauman of Apple Valley, MN; Gary (LeAnn) Bauman, Madison, Macey and Mason of Townsend, MT; Kori Bauman and Chandler of Cross Lanes, WV; Da’Lyn Bauman of Las Vegas, NV; and Jordan Bauman (Cara Liddicoat) and Payton of Antelope, CA. Joyce is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Oleson, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at the Beehive Maple House and Benefis Hospice Group as the struggle with her Alzheimer’s disease came to a close.
