Joyce E. Castle of Kalamazoo passed away January 17, 2022.
Miss Castle came into the world October 13, 1944, the second of two daughters born to Chester and Bertha (Esman) Castle.
A lifelong resident of Kalamazoo, Miss Castle graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science. Putting this degree to work, she spent thirty-three years as a teacher in Kalamazoo Public Schools, mostly working with children in grades four and five.
Joyce and her sister Juanita loved to travel. One of their favorite spots was Shipshewana, where they enjoyed shopping and visiting local restaurants. Miss Castle had numerous other interests including needlework, genealogy, various crafts, music, and collecting rocks. She is especially known for the love of her cats, raising many throughout her years.
Miss Castle was predeceased by her parents and is survived by her loving and devoted sister Juanita Castle of Kalamazoo. Also surviving are Laurie Khalil, neighbor, caregiver, and dear friend.
