Joyce E. Christensen, 85, of Sully died on Friday, December 13, 2019, at Newton Village.
Joyce, the daughter of Lewis F. and Mabel Ruth (Bohannon) Reynolds, was born on August 20, 1934 in Brewton, Alabama. She grew up in Alabama and graduated from Enterprise High School in 1952. Joyce was united in marriage to Alfred Junior Christensen on June 8, 1952 in Alabama. Shortly after, they made their home in Iowa and farmed near Attica before moving to rural Sully in 1954. Joyce was a homemaker and farmer’s wife.
Those left to survive Joyce are her children, Gary (Lynnette) Christensen of Sully, Greg (Denise) Christensen of Chandler, Arizona, Melissa (Dan) Johnson of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Mary Ann (Dale) Hawkins of Dinwiddie, Virginia; grandchildren, Rachel (Travis) Deur, Andrea (Dave) Van Steenis, Jamis (Sarah) Christensen, Skyler Christensen, Kaycie Christensen, Brandon Johnson, Lucas Johnson, and Taylor (Chris) Ellis; her 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Christina Shilling of Knoxville; brother-in-law, Marinus (Laverne) Christensen of Loveland, Colorado; and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred in 2015; and a grandson, T.J. Christensen.
