Joyce Holzer passed away on November 1, 2018 in Arvada, Colorado after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. She is survived by her husband, Norman; five children; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Joyce was born in Oklahoma and moved to Southern California at an early age. She went to school in South Pasadena.

Joyce and Norman were married in Los Angeles in 1949 and began married life in San Diego, where Norman worked for the Property-Casualty insurance industry. Joyce’s first child came in 1950, her secornd and third in Portland, and her two sons in Philadelphia. Her husband’s career dictated homes in Portland, Philadelphia, Glen Falls, Syracruse, Dallas and New Jersey, where her husband retired in 1985.

Joyce was a devotee of early American art forms, developing her appreciation and skills over sixty years, winning many awards, and was President of the Historical Society of Early American Decoration for two terms during the late 1900s.

One of Joyce’s daughters lives in Florida; one in St. Louis; one in New Mexico. Her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren all live in Colorado. Joyce’s parents, Bill and Anna Mae Kewley are interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in California.
