Joyce Elaine Clarke, 74, of Galesburg, died Monday, April 11, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Joyce was born February 26, 1948, in Galesburg, the daughter of George Herman August and Virginia Marie (Webber) Dawson. Joyce graduated from Galesburg High School. She went on to a 33-year career at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, retiring as the office coordinator for the X-Ray Department in 2010.
Joyce is survived by two sons, Bradley Clarke of Galesburg and Aaron (Amanda Perez-Clarke) Clarke of Altona; four grandchildren, Dalton Unger, MaKenzie Clarke, Jared Clarke, and Jakob Clarke; one step-granddaughter, Brylee; and four great-grandchildren, Ryder, Aaron, R.J., and Daxton. Joyce is also survived by one brother, Roger Dawson of Tempe, AZ; two sisters, Ella Rogers of Galesburg and Hazel Strange of Rushville; and her beloved dog, Rambo. Along with her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by one sister, Patsy Rogers; and three brothers, Rodney Dawson, Randy Dawson, and George Dawson. Joyce was a confident woman, who proudly raised her two sons as a single mother. She was a devout and active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Galesburg. Joyce enjoyed reading and horses.
