Durham – Joyce Annette Baucom, 68, of 811 Midland Terrace, departed this life at her home after a brief illness. Joyce was born in Sumpter, South Carolina on Christmas Day, 1944. Joyce was employed by Edward Weck Incorporated, where she also obtained her GED on March 2nd, 1992. Joyce went on to retire from Edward Weck on October 14, 2005. Anyone who got to know Joyce soon recognized her zest for life. Whether it be sharing a good meal, or chasing after that next big win. Joyce loved all games, cards, bingo, and Yahtzee, which she played with her longtime friend Sarah Clayton, who has since passed. Most recently, Joyce was forced to enhance her computer skills to conquer the online gaming world, which she did. Joyce was a fighter, with great pride, she battled nicotine and won, she battled breast cancer and won. Joyce was never willing to raise the white flag. Joyce also instilled in her kids to never give up the fight. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Leonard Donald Baucom. Surviving are her three children, Teresa Annette Baucom, Andrea Baucom Chamberlain, and Leonard Donald Baucom II. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Kaleb Christopher Chamberlain, Faith Elizabeth Baucom, and McKenzie Stace Chamberlain, as well as her mother, Hazel Riddle Davis, two brothers, Curtis Riddle and Tommy Davis, two sisters, Brenda Logner and Mary Jones, and her boyfriend James Green.
