Joy Bryan Pettet, age 84 died on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at her home in Newnan, GA. She was born April 10, 1927 in Miami, FL the oldest of seven children to the late John Mercer Bryan and Leora Langford Bryan. After graduating high school, she attended business school and later married her husband of 54 years, Thomas R. Pettet, deceased. She assisted her husband with his optometry practice as an administrator and dedicated her life to her children, family & home. She also enjoyed being an active member of Newnan Presbyterian Church. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Survivors include sons, Thomas Bryan Pettet and his wife Sheryl of Marietta, GA, Richard “Lee” Pettet and his wife Kelly of Newnan, GA; brothers, Coy Bryan of Colquitt, GA, Ned Bryan of Bainbridge, GA, Ted Bryan and his wife Betty of Colquitt, GA; sisters, Zelda Hicks and her husband James of Americus, GA, Kathleen Bryan of Jekyll Island, GA, Carol Sue Bailey of Colquitt, GA; granddaughters, Katie and Mallory Pettet of Marietta, GA; grandson, Thomas Owen Pettet of Newnan; nieces, nephews and members of extended family.
