Mrs. Joy E. Williams, 68, of Valley, Al. passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Columbus Specialty Hospital in Columbus, Ga.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband, the Rev. Bill Williams; two children, Jennifer (Jeff) Goodwin and Jason Howard Williams, both of Valley; sister, Leanne Hatchett Griggs of Beauregard, Al.; two grandchildren, Jaylin Wayne Goodwin and Jenna Lee Goodwin. She was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Hatchett.
Mrs. Williams was born on June 2, 1945 in Langdale, Al. to the late John William Hatchett and Mary Ruth Lane Hatchett. At her birth, her parents were so happy, they decided to name her Joy. She was a member of Langdale United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Valley High School and Auburn University. While at Auburn, she recieved her Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree. She taught for many years at several area schools, but primarily at LaFayette Lanier Elementery School. The name Joy best describes her. She will always be remembered for her smile, her kindness, her love of family and friends, and giving to others. She always put God first, others second, and herself last.
