Josie B. Crooms passed away peacefully on November 30, 2011 at her daughter’s home after a brave battle with cancer.
Mrs. Crooms was born in Chiefland, FL. to the late Luther & Essie (Jones) Burnett. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Hiers.
Mrs. Crooms graduated from the University of Florida with Honors, Phi Beta Kappa. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She was a Special Education teacher, E.S.E. Coordinator and also a Parent Liaison with the Levy County School Board for many years.
She was a dedicated teacher and a strong advocate for her students. She also enjoyed traveling and will be remembered as a loving wife, caring mother and doting grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Crooms of Williston, FL.; children, Tina Maze of Columbus, Ga., Staci Pautler & husband Brent of Sharpsburg, GA., Bobby Crooms & wife Misty of Morriston, FL. , Jay Crooms & wife Melinda of Williston, FL .Grandchildren; Meghan, Lauren, Danielle, Nick, Ryan, Katie, R.C., Kenzie, Trentin, Chandlor, Maddie. Great grandson, Tanner. She is also survived by her sister, Thelma Dickinson of Dunnellon, FL.
