Josi Anne Nordmark (Gallinger), born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, lived in Mt. Pleasant for 26 years before moving to Kalamazoo, Michigan, and lived there for almost 21 years, passed away after battling cancer on February 7th, 2022. Passing in her Kalamazoo home, lovingly surrounded by her child KayAnne, her mother Debbie, her brother Eric, her sister-in-law Patty, her aunt Kelly, and her husband Don.

Josi was born on July 23rd, 1974 to her parents Timothy Hough (deceased) and Debbie Jo Gallinger (Tremain) in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

After proudly graduating from Shepherd High School, she entered the customer service field and worked for a local answering service. She went on to have her first child, Daniel, born in Mt. Pleasant. As a single parent, Josi embraced the challenges and financial adversities of raising a child by herself. Her friends and family loved Josi, and supported & comforted her and her child.

Josi met Don online in December 2000, through a mutual friend. She started texting with him and accidentally misspelled a word. Don texted back, “Bad spellers of the world…UNTIE!” Immediately after that, Josi called Don and they talked for another hour that night. Over the next four months, they would talk for about three hours a night (until the phone batteries were depleted). Josi and Don finally met face-to-face on April 28th, 2001, and married on June 13th, 2001. Josi and Don adopted Daniel. Josi went on to have two more children, KayAnne and William. And she felt proud that all three of her children became productive adults.

Josi, or Jo as she was affectionately known, unconditionally, and unselfishly loved her children and husband and supported them all her life through the many highs and difficulties of their lives. She also made it her mission to minister to her family and friends both in person and through social media. She also gave anonymous gifts to missions, churches and hospitals in the area.

Josi was also passionate about her Christian faith. As a loyal member of Radiant Church in Kalamazoo, where her children attended Sunday services, she was often seen for services. Josi also watched the online services of Destiny Christian Ministries, which she considered her home away from home church.

In her free time, she enjoyed traveling across the country, spending time with friends and family, and especially quality time with her Mt. Pleasant family Debbie, David, Eric, Patty, her five nieces and their families, and her nephew. She showered everyone with love every chance she got.

When she splurged on herself, she would get high-quality clothes and accessories for herself.

She was truly exceptional in that when she would give gifts to others, she would study each person thoroughly, then purchase high quality, high durability gifts that would last for years. Her joy was in seeing each gift being used.
