Josephine, the last child of Mary Lou and Daniel Boykin, was born on July 18, 1940. Born and raised in Clinton, NC, she was a graduate of Sampson County Schools where she was a majorette. After high school, she moved moved to New York where she later gave birth to Danny and the late Bonita. In 1988, Josephine moved to Seattle, WA to help her late sister, Bessie, run BVL Diner. Here is where she began helping young adults in the community by giving them free meals when they were hungry. In 1996, Frankie was adopted at 3 months old. A year later, she adopted his sister, Simone, at 3 days old.
She joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board, Finance Board and was a member of the Security Team. She loved to cook and entertain. She also loved to collect elephants.
Josephine is survived by her three daughters: Regina (Gina) Robinson, Rhonda Robinson and Simone Robinson, all of Seattle, WA, three sons: Danny Boykin of Clinton, NC, Harold Robinson Jr. of Rockville, MD, and Frankie Robinson of Seattle, WA. She was the grandmother to Nakisha, Cokema, Ke’Onna, TraDarrius, Takofia, Bryson and Shanique. A Great Grandmother to 13.
