Josephine Ballotta (nee Scangarello) 93, of Holiday City West, Berkeley Twp., NJ passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, NJ. Born in Clifton, NJ, she lived in Wood-Ridge, NJ before moving to Berkeley Twp. in 1983. Josephine was Manager of Big Ben’s Variety Store in Wood-Ridge, NJ, retiring in 1982.
She was a parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the church’s Rosary Altar Society. Josephine was a also a member of the Holiday City West Women’s Club and the Berkeley Twp. Democratic Club. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Ballotta in 2008, and her brothers Frank, Thomas, Peter, John & Joseph Scangarello and her sisters Mary Sanfratello & Rosie Romano.
Josephine is survived by her 2 daughters and sons in law JoAnn & Michael Piazza of Naples, FL and Nancy and Ken Mushinskie of Hazlet, NJ, a brother James Scangarello of Clifton, NJ, 4 grandchildren and their spouses Jeffery & Kate, Steven & Lori, Christopher & Michael, and Scott & Amanda, and 5 great grandchildren Sean, Julie, Emily, Zoe, & Jessica.
