Joseph W. Horstman Sr., 82, of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Aster Place in Lafayette. He was born January 14, 1940, in Bloomington, IN, to the late Fred and Clora (Kirk) Horstman.
Joe graduated from Bloomington High School and was married to Carolyn Sullivan who preceded him in death in 2018. Joe was a salesman for National Wine and Spirits for 20 years. Prior to that, he managed various Kroger stores around Indiana for 15 years. Joe was an exceptional athlete in high school playing varsity basketball and baseball and was an avid golfer and bowler in his later years. He had a great (dry) sense of humor and a personality everyone wanted to be around. He loved the sales profession and socializing with people. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Lafayette for many years. Surviving is his son Joseph W. (Susan) Horstman, Jr. of West Lafayette, grandson, Benjamin J. (Melissa) Horstman of Ft. Mill, SC, and step grandchildren Alex and Rachel Schlaifer. Also surviving is his sister Catherine A. Snoddy of Bloomington, IN. Joseph was preceded in death by his son Jeffery S. Horstman.
