Joseph S. Tufaro, age 70, of Jackson, formerly of Metuchen, died Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, N.J. Born in Metuchen, he lived there and in Edison for most of his life before moving to Jackson 11 years ago. Joseph had served his country as a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a former communicant at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Metuchen.

He had an extensive working career which included owning and operating the Imperial Deli and Liquors in South Plainfield and the Metuchen Deli and Liquor Store in Metuchen for several years and later was an assistant manager for Burger King Restaurants of the Georgetown Group.

He was pre-deceased by a twin brother, Angelo Tufaro and another brother, Richard Tufaro. Joseph is survived by his wife, Marie Milo Tufaro, two sons, Joseph S. Tufaro, Jr. of Palmyra, N.J. and Gregory A. Tufaro and his wife, Cynthia, of Edison, a grand-daughter, Marisa Rose Tufaro, two sisters, Patricia Scasserra of Edison and Teresa DeMary of Metuchen, three brothers, Robert Tufaro of Warren, N.J., Roger Tufaro of Las Vegas, Nevada and John Anthony Tufaro of Bloomsbury, N.J. and many nieces and nephews.
