Joseph was born on June 18, 1959, son of Allen R. Rode Sr., and Gertrude (Labbadia) Deperry. At 17 he decided to join the US Army, where he worked as heavy construction equipment operator. This led him to completing the US Army Airborne Course where he receive his parachutist badge, also known as “Jump Wings. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Joseph turned to his love of cars. He became extremely handy and could often be found “turning a wrench.
