Mr. Joseph B. Robinson, Sr. of Tampa, Florida passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021.

Mr. Joseph B. Robinson Sr. was a native of New York, NY and a resident of Tampa for 24 years. During this period of residency, he was THE CHAMPION of Sulphur Springs. As President of the Sulphur Springs Neighborhood Association, he was a staunch advocator for the Sulphur Springs community. He was instrumental in the building of the new Spring Hill Recreation Center and concurrently, there is a new library built and named after him, “Norma & Joseph Robinson Partnership Library – Sulphur Springs” located in the same community. He was also a devoted representative for the Sulphur Spring Weed & Seed Program. This initiative supported the creation of programs to introduce positive change within the community while addressing the crime and drugs many individuals faced. Additionally, he was instrumental with the creation of the “Water Safety is Key” CD produced on behalf of the Children’s Board Hillsborough County. This information was informative to address the high prevalence of youth drownings.

His many accomplishments include the following roles in Tampa:  President of the Sulphur Springs Neighborhood Association, President of the Sulphur Springs Museum & Heritage Center, The “Norma & Joseph Robinson Partnership Library- Sulphur Springs”, THAN (Tampa Homeowners Association of Neighborhoods) Representative, Chair, City of Tampa Enterprise Board, Commissioner for Boy Scouts of American – Gulf Ridge Council, Advocated for the new Spring Hill Community Center – Sulphur Springs, Sulphur Springs Weed & Seed Steering Committee Representative and Honored – Tampa Bay Lightning Hero.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Norma of 62 years; son, Joseph Jr. (Atlanta, GA); daughter-in-law, Sherrita Robinson (Bronx, NY); grandson, Dwayne (Bronx, NY); granddaughters, Eboni Robinson (Bronx, NY), Jacqueline Howard (Silver Spring, MD), Ivore Cross (Bronx, NY), Shaniqua Robinson (Bronx, NY), and Diamond Staples (Bronx, NY); grandson-in-laws, Martin Cross (Bronx NY) and Trey Howard (Silver Spring, MD); great-grandchildren, Aiden Roberts (Bronx, NY), Julien Darisme (Silver Spring, MD), Elisabell Narie Curet (Bronx, NY), Journey Raye Cross (Bronx, NY) and Emanuel Abreu (Bronx, NY) and a host of family and friends from the New York Tri-state area to Florida and across various cities in the South.
