Joseph R. Zeiser, 99, formerly of Toms River, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. He was born and raised in Newark, NJ and had lived in Pompton Plains for 36 years before moving to Toms River in 1989. Later in life he lived with his son and family in Yardley, PA. Joseph proudly served in World War II as a Sergeant in the Army Air Forces and received the Purple Heart and Distinguished Service Medal.

Before retiring at 65, he worked as a Sheet Metal Specialist for various companies and loved working with blueprints and designs. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Evelyn R. Zeiser, daughter Lauren Zdepski, and sisters Hazel Kirchmayr and Ruth Reifsnyder. Joseph is survived by his son Donald Zeiser and wife Pat (Woods) Zeiser of Yardley, PA; his grandchildren Adam and Abbey Zeiser, Kristin Sands and Michael Zdepski; and great-grandchildren Micaela and Jason. Joseph was incredibly devoted to his family and always found time to help those in need. Joseph and Evelyn were known for their humor and love.

His favorite story to tell was being introduced to Evelyn through his sister Hazel while the two women worked at Bamberger’s Department Store. “She was just so cute,” he always said. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
