Biography

Joseph Pezzullo, 85, born October 1, 1927, in
Bridgeport, Ct passed away peacefully at
Holmes Regional Medical Center early Thursday
morning, February 21. He is survived by his
wife of 43 years, Mary Ann, and his niece
Judith Ferraro of Orange, Ct. He was predeceased
by brother, James Pezzullo, and sister Philomena
Greggos.
Joe served in the Army in Japan in 1946-47. He entered
the Order of Preachers and was ordained a Dominican priest in 1958.
Joe taught theology at Emmanuel College, Boston, from 1959 to 1965.
In 1966 he served a year as director of the newly ordained priests and subsequently was elected Prior of the Dominican House of Studies in Dover, Massachusetts where he served until leaving the order in 1968.
After working two years in a New Jersey drug abuse facility,
in 1970 he founded and was principal of an alternative school for
youth at risk in Willingboro, NJ. The school became a model program for the State. He retired in 1992.
In retirement Joe eagerly resumed his study of Sacred Scripture
and Theology and generously shared his knowledge, wisdom, and deep faith, especially with his wife.
