Joseph Paul “JoJo” Laurie II, age 67 formerly of Clarksburg, WV passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Genesis Healthcare Pierpont Center at Fairmont Campus, surrounded by his family. He was born February 23, 1950 in Clarksburg, WV; the son of the late Joseph P Laurie and Virginia (Loretta) Laurie.
Joseph is survived by his sister, Patty Laurie Colanero of Bridgeport, WV; a nephew, James Joseph Colanero of Pittsburgh, PA; two aunts, Elizabeth “Betty” Loretta and Mary Moscar Loretta, both of Clarksburg, WV; first cousins, Anita Loretta Cottrill, Gina Loretta Powers, Angela Loretta Fazzini, Guy Loretta, Tim Loretta, Bob Loretta, Joanne Loretta, Joey Loretta, Sam Loretta, Elaine Laurie Frame and Sandra Laurie & their spouses; and several other cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven uncles, Joe Loretta, Lewis Loretta, Tony Loretta, Angelo “Hank” Loretta, Sam Loretta, Guy Loretta and Frank Laurie; an aunt, Elizabeth Loretta Miller & their spouses.
Joseph graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1968 where he was co-captain of the football team. He went to play football at Greenbrier Military Academy for one year. He then played football at the University of Cincinnati and received his BA degree in Foreign Affairs.
JoJo loved football and was a fan of the WVU Mountaineers and the Chicago Bears. He always showed hospitality to fellow residents, staff and visitors at Pierpont Nursing Home. His nephew, James was always “the apple of his eye.” JoJo was a kind, considerate and loving person, especially to his sister, Patty who was his constant and attentive care-giver. His favorite quote was “Patty, you can leave now!” He will be missed dearly!
