Joseph Occhipinti, retired Paint Foreman entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. He was 88 years of age. He was employed for 32 years before retiring in 1985. During this time he received many achievements and suggestion awards. He was born on August 7, 1930 to Joseph and Rose Pluchio Occhipinti in North Tarrytown. He attended North Tarrytown Scghools where he was very active in the Art Department, Football, and Track. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951-1952. In September 1952 he was seriously wounded. He recieved numerous medals including the Purple Heart & UN medal. On November 21, 2013 Joe received Senator Greg Ball’s N.Y.S. Veteran’s Hall of Fame Award. Joe was an active Life Member of the American Legion. 1030 Post, Verplanck, NY of which he was Past Commander, twice; Life member, (DAV) Disabled American Veterans; member of Veterans of Foreign War; member of Yorktown Elks Club; Life member, Peekskill Fish & Game Association; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Verplanck. He will be remembered for his endless love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and his giving heart and always helping others. His favorite pass time was spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his adoring wife Lucy, a daughter Kim, and two son’s Mark and Bruce, three grandsons, Hunter, AJ, and Nicholas, several nieces and nephews He is pre-deceased by his brothers, Frank, Lewis, and his Loving son Joseph III. Joseph will leave a huge void in everyone’s life that knew and loved him. Time will never heal the broken hearts he has left behind.
