SLAGLE Joseph Landon Slagle, 81, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018. Joe was born July 9, 1936 in London; he was a son of Elmer and Mary (Herman) Slagle. He attended London High School, the class of 1954 and then graduated from the Chicago Technical Institute in 1958. He enjoyed collecting and restoring old cars. He was a member of Corvair Society of America, the Circle City Corvair Club of Indianapolis and the Mid-Ohio Corvair Club of Columbus. He volunteered at the Madison Co. Senior Citizen Center for many years and was past president of the London Lions Club. He had also served on the Hospital Foundation Board, Air Port Authority, Senior Citizen Board and the Madison Co., Zoning Appeals Board. Joe had been a machine shop foreman at the London Correctional Institution, before working and retiring from the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy in 1994 as maintenance supervisor and then worked with his nephew Jim Slagle in his farming operation for 23 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandad to his wife Elsie (Fout) Slagle; daughter and son in law Stephanie and Rev. Steve Schellin; granddaughter Meredith Schellin, grandson Landon Schellin; brother Frank Slagle; sisters in law Shirley Jones and Donna (Slagle) Shields; special nephew Jim (Diane) Slagle; nieces Nancy, Joanie, Debbie and Sue and several other nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Mary Slagle and brothers Bill, Richard and Robert Slagle.
