Joseph L. Roche, 69, of Brooksville, FL and Sturgis, MI (formerly of Lydick, IN) passed away at 3:05pm Sunday, September 11, 2005 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.

He was born to the late David T. and Jane M. (Roy) Roche in Mishawaka, IN, and lived most of his life in this area. Along with his parents, one sister, Christine Ake; and two brothers, David and Frances Roche also preceded him in death.

Mr. Roche retired in 1989 from Local No. 75 Asbestos Workers Union, after 22years of employment. He then retired in 2000, as the owner/operator of Professional Pattern and Tooling, Inc., after 12 years of ownership.

On May 2, 1959, he married Nancy L. Lehman in South Bend, IN. She survives.

Along with his loving wife of 46 years, he is survived by one daughter, Kathy A. (husband Jeff) Murray of Granger, IN; one son, Thomas E. (wife Kris) Roche of Lydick, IN; six grandchildren, Emilee A., Carly J., Allyson M., Chase M., Albert J., and Kayla M.; five sisters, Mary (husband Robert) Folk of Granger, IN; Elizabeth Mumaw of New Carlisle, IN; Jane Watkins of Lydick, IN; Rita Bailey of Lydick, IN; Patricia (husband Gerald) Brucker of Granger, IN; one brother-in-law, Ray (wife Maribell) Milliken of Sturgis, MI; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Roche was the past Vice-President, President, and Business Agent for Local No. 75 Asbestos Workers Union, where he served as Business Agent from February 1983 January 1989. He also served as the past President of St. Joseph Valley Building Trades; and was a member of American Legion Post #297 in New Carlisle, IN. Mr. Roche was an Army Veteran of the Korean War; and he enjoyed woodworking and fishing.
