Joseph G. Ellis, 96, Alexandria, passed away April 22, 2009 at Bethany Pointe Health Campus-Anderson after an extended illness. He was born February 28, 1913 in Alexandria, Indiana, and resided in Alexandria most of his life. Joseph retired in 1971 from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge #483 F. & A.M. in Crossville, Tennessee and the UAW Local #663. He is survived by his wife whom he married September 1, 1962, Jannie Wilson Ellis; daughters, Wilma & husband John Robinson of North Manchester and Marge Graham of Anderson; step-son, Ray & wife Jean Shipley of Las Cruces, New Mexico; brothers, Chester & wife Anna Mae Ellis of Swayzee and Carl Ellis of Lapel; sister, Dolly & husband Jim Dial of Elwood; grandchildren, Mike Brown, Terry Brown, Sharon Craib, Chris Graham, Angela Johnson, Wendy Shipley and John Shipley; 14 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. & Calie Funk Ellis; Siblings, John Ellis, David Ellis, Lillian Farr and step-son, Randy Shipley.
