Joe was born in Pasadena, California on July 22, 1965 to parents Daniel Reckley & Patricia (McClain) Reckley. He graduated from Brownsburg High School in 1983. After graduating he moved to West Palm Beach, Florida where he began working as a building contractor. In 2005 he returned to Indiana to continue his career.

Joe was a devoted brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was known by all for his generous, selfless, caring nature. He never met a stranger and went above and beyond to help others. Joe was a skilled craftsman and problem solver that loved to work with his hands and took great pride in his work. He earned the nickname ‘Saint Joe’ because he was truly capable of working miracles. There was no job too big. If Joe couldn’t fix it or build it, no one could. Above all, Joe cherished family. He loved fiercely and was fiercely loved. He will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Joe’s love and compassion also extended to animals, especially his beloved puppy Harley, who brought him so much joy and comfort in the short time he was on this Earth. Harley crossed the rainbow bridge far too soon, but in divine timing, as now he is eternally united with his dad, Joe.

Joe was passionate about Indiana sports, especially the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Indianapolis Colts. He also loved IndyCar and Nascar racing. He looked forward to every race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which was just around the corner from his house. He attended many of them and got to meet a lot of the drivers over the years, including his favorite, Jeff Gordon. Joe was a strong man with a fighting spirit. He even boxed in the Golden Gloves, and won, after defeating his opponent and forcing the referee to stop the fight. He was a courageous fighter until the very end.
