Joseph F Vitelli Jr, age 77, of Holiday City Carefree formally of North Plainfield died Friday January 11, 2013 at Van Dyke Hospice at Community Medical Center. Joseph was born January 18, 1935 in Plainfield the son of Joseph and Julia Ronca Vitelli. He was raised in North Plainfield where he and his family owned and operated Greenbrook Bottling ??” Vitelli Liquors since 1913.

In 1954 Joseph joined US Army – trained at Fort Dix and the Southeastern Signal School at Camp Gordon GA and was stationed in Germany. Following his discharge he retuned to North Plainfield where he continued to work in the family business to marry and to raise his family. Joseph attended Grace United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer for many years and he and his son were with the church’s “Amazing Grace” bowling team. He was a Charter member of the North Plainfield Honorary PBA. In 2005 Joseph and his wife moved to Holiday City Carefree where he was a member of the Carefree Men’s Club, Anglers Club, the Bingo Committee and the Bocce club. He had a passion for crabbing for New Jersey blue claws and loved Lucky Leo’s on the Boardwalk.

He was pre-deceased by his mother and father, his sisters Carmela (Sis) and Barbara and his brother Francis. He is survived by his wife Barbara (James) of 46 years, his daughter Kathleen of Sea Bright and his son Joseph III and his wife Denise of Bridgewater and two grandchildren Dominic Vitelli and Raquel Vitelli, his sister Theresa Falconeri of North Plainfield. He also is survived by loving sister-in-laws a brother-law, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and by the Miceli and Hess family and many other caring friends.
