Whitesboro, NY: Joseph Edward Noviasky, 86, formerly of Winsted, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, NY. He was the husband of Atsuko (Arai) Noviasky, his wife of 48 years. Born in Pine Meadow, CT, July 31, 1923, he was a son of the late John and Sophia (Hanecok) Noviasky. Mr. Noviasky had a degree in electrical and mechanical engineering. His most recent place of employment was Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, NY, where was also Union President. He was a graduate of The Gilbert School, class of 1941, and Indiana Tech. He was an Army Veteran of WW II where he received several decorations and citations (i.e. Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, WW II Victory Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the EAME Ribbon.) He was a longstanding member of the American Legion.
Mr. Noviasky, “Uncle Joe”, was an avid Polka fan and attended many Polish Festivals. He also enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and was very involved in finance and investments.
He was the third youngest of 9 children.
