Joseph E. Koszyk, 78, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2006, in his home.

Joseph was born on March 18, 1928, in South Bend, to the late Konstanty and Elizabeth (Rupik) Koszyk and was a lifelong area resident. On September 19, 1953, he married Dorothy Bilski, who survives.

Along with his loving wife of 53 years, he is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Pete) Carlson of Mason, Michigan; two sons, Brian (Karen) Koszyk and Ronald (Kimberly) Koszyk, both of South Bend; five grandchildren, Todd (Angela) Koszyk, Krystal (Jason) Milligan, Matthew Koszyk, Alicia Koszyk and Arielle Carlson; six great-grandchildren, Owen Reidy, Parker Milligan, Isabella Milligan, Addison Milligan, Seth Koszyk and Siri Koszyk; a sister, Alice (Leonard) Ciesielski of Portage, Indiana; and by two brothers, Cass (Winifred) Kosik and Ervin (Lorraine) Koszyk, both of South Bend. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Major and three brothers, Bert Koszyk, John Koszyk and Eugene Koszyk.

Mr. Koszyk worked for the United States Postal Service as a carrier for 38 years, before retiring in 1991. He was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, South Bend, a member of the William Penn club and a United States Army Veteran of WWII. Joseph liked to predict the weather and enjoyed listening to the weather station. He enjoyed traveling overseas to Europe and Australia.
