Joseph C. Hess, 71, of Evansville, IN, passed away at his home on February 17, 2014.
He was born April 30, 1942, in Vincennes, IN, the son of Charles A. and Anna M. Halter Hess.
He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and received a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from the University of Evansville. He was a Senior Sales Executive with Sentry Insurance during his professional career. He Married Deanna L. Tewalt on March 31, 1967, and they made their life together for nearly 47 years. He was a member of the St. Benedict Catholic Cathedral in Evansville, a 3rd-degree member of council 17544 of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Vincent DePaul society. He served as treasurer of both organizations and was the insurance consultant for the St. Vincent DePaul Store.
He is survived by his wife, Dee Hess of Evansville, IN, a daughter, Denaya Oxley of Evansville, and a son Joseph C. Hess V of Louisville, Ky. Grandchildren, William J. Oxley and Olivia Oxley, his sisters and brothers, Charlotte Jeffries, of O Fallon, MO, Marilyn (Mary) McAllister of Vincennes, IN, Harold M. Hess, and his wife Sharon of Maricopa, AZ, Bernadette Wallis, and her husband Henry of Danville, IN, Deborah J. Emmons, and her husband DuWaine of Kuna, ID, Tim Hess of Florissant, MO, and Ann Pepmeier, and her husband Mark of Vincennes, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Virginia E. Hess.
